Flexi P Oral Contraceptive Pills

Flexi P is a safe and easily reversible child spacing method that is widely available. Flexi P oral contraceptive pill is the best modern family planning solution for today’s women who want to space births and/or gain easy fertility control. Flexi P offers safe, easy to use, self administered and reversible protection from unwanted pregnancy. The product is affordably priced at TZS 150 for a monthly cycle. Flexi-P is available at a wide range of Pharmacy Type I outlets, ADDOS, and private hospitals and centers offering family planning services.

This product is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Tanzania.

Data/results

• In 2008, Flexi P open market campaigns were implemented in seven regions: Mbeya, Iringa, Morogoro, Manyara, Arusha and Mwanza.  Campaign elements that were implemented include market day and gazebo activations as well as clinic visits; barbershop and salon activations; and forum group discussions.  Through these activities Flexi P reached and interacted with a total of 26,088 individuals: 11,957 men and 14,131 women.  Other demand creation activities include developing and executing effective point of service (POS) materials and promotional items.
• In 2007, in partnership with implementing partner Dunia Inc., T-MARC Company implemented 78 salon activations and eight trade activations in eight upcountry regions.
